From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of characters who will separate from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group understands precisely where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to execute the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the party reach locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Questers and Schemers parties.
Fans can expect discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
