Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the pair.
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt ready to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can finally articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced spending more time together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the movie, remarking that he cannot recall "any day without laughter".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
In a distinct essay, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to prevent the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A legal directive placed a embargo on the files to limit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" pertaining to the probe.
The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a public database listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
After the deaths, public individuals offered varying comments.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing controversial claims that were widely condemned by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the critics last week. Talking on his show, Rogan characterized the statements as "disappointing" and implied they showed a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by suggesting that an associate could have acted when the impulse to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
