Tropical Storm the storm is predicted to strengthen into a uncommon category five storm as it turns towards the Caribbean island, causing dangerous rapid inundation and mudslides.

Residents are being instructed to secure their homes with sand barriers and timber panels, and to accumulate necessary supplies.

Advisories are also ongoing for areas in Haiti including the main city, Port au Prince, the neighboring country and Cuba's eastern region, where this storm is projected to bring similar effects by the middle of next week.

Mudslides presently generated by the hurricane have already killed two in Haiti, according to emergency services.

This weather system is projected to pass over the island nation by midweek before traveling via the Caribbean archipelago and out into the Atlantic.
