Pat Bamford Signs With Sheffield United After Initiating Derogatory Songs About Coach Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford has joined the Championship side only seven months after starting derogatory songs directed at the team's coach, Chris Wilder.

This experienced forward, without a club after departing from Leeds, has agreed to a contract joining the Championship strugglers through the winter. Bamford's seven-year career with Leeds concluded amicably in August.

Among the player's last memorable actions while at Leeds was to lead offensive chants regarding Chris Wilder during Leeds' promotion party in April. Currently, the one-cap England player will be playing under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss aims to lift his beloved club out of the bottom places.

Previous Conflict Involving Bamford and Wilder

Both men had previous conflict prior to Leeds moved up back to the Premier League the previous campaign while Sheffield United lost the promotion decider to Sunderland. Wilder called Bamford as “a muppet” when the roles were reversed in 2018-19 and the Blades won automatic promotion whereas Leeds missed out in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation and Moving Forward

Everything seems has been resolved with United, the Championship’s least productive attack, in desperate need of a boost in attack while Bamford hoping to resurrect his playing days.

The song about Wilder spread widely this spring. An apologetic Bamford along with Leeds boss, Farke, phoned Wilder the following day.

Wilder said at the time: “Had a conversation with Patrick yesterday and I’ve no issue whatsoever with that. I'm uncertain regarding the words used from a fellow pro! But I appreciated and admired him calling me.

“We spent 20 minutes and the same again I spoke to Daniel as well and we had a longer discussion together and he is a great person, a class act. When I was playing we would give it and take it and that’s an integral part of the game at every level, including a Sunday morning. I've got no problem at all. I am cool with the situation and I told him that to Pat.”

Recent Career Struggles

The forward made 18 games with Leeds United last season but the ex- Forest, Chelsea and Middlesbrough player has faced difficulties with injury over the past few seasons.
