Reigning Aryna Sabalenka Wins Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Honors.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive year.

The 27-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – including successfully defending the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.

A Year of High Performance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the whole season as the world number one, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

This past summer, she became the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Statistics

Sabalenka concluded the season with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and collected a record eleven million pounds in prize money.

She earned nearly eighty percent of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.

Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".

Other WTA Award Winners

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking extended hiatus after the arrival of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
• Rookie of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko received the award after beginning the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and soaring to world number 18.
• Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after securing their second career Grand Slam title together.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after advancing to five finals.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz won three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
