Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was natural for doubts to be raised about his future after another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received plenty of backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It's important to change things and get a victory naturally but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my role. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I sense the trust. However I've not talked to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Player Response

Slot expressed regret over recurring failings from his squad in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a spell like this with outcomes so bad.”

He stated, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And until it is removed, we’re always going to compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to its rightful place, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
