Viktor Gyokeres moved to Arsenal from Sporting during the offseason

Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres was left out from the new manager's initial Swedish national team selection, while Reds forward Alexander Isak secured a place

Gyokeres is set to undergo further assessments this week following concerns he sustained a thigh issue during the Gunners's English top flight win against Burnley on Saturday

The 27-year-old sat out the Gunners' European win versus Slavia Prague earlier this week

Alexander Isak Makes Comeback

Isak, who has been sidelined from late October due to muscle issues, made the squad to play in the World Cup games versus the Swiss team (15 November) and the Slovenian side (18 November)

Other England-based Inclusions

  • Tottenham playmaker Lucas Bergvall, working his way back after a head knock
  • Magpies winger the Swedish international

Both athletes are among the Premier League contingent named under ex- multiple English clubs coach Graham Potter

Potter's Role

Potter was appointed by Sweden first temporarily in late October, under four weeks following his departure by the Hammers

Previous coach Jon Dahl Tomasson was fired following Sweden's defeat against Kosovo on 13 October, an outcome that made automatic qualification from qualifying group out of reach

Current Situation

The Swedish team find themselves bottom of their qualifying group with only one point from four matches

Even if they don't manage to finish second, they could still participate in the qualification playoffs as a result of their performance in the latest UEFA competition
