Nearly 55,000 households have so far been affected by the weather, with their possessions and dwellings ruined.

Intense precipitation over the past week have intensified the extremely difficult living conditions of the hundreds of thousands of evacuated residents in the Gaza Strip, according to relief organizations.

"Horrendous" Night Brings Serious Risks

A official characterized the recent storm as "awful", with downpours so heavy that up to 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the ground.

"These conditions was truly difficult for the people. The downpours were so strong... And the gales were so powerful," said the spokesperson.

There is grave concern that children residing in makeshift shelters in soaked attire will fall victim to hypothermia and various sicknesses.

Fatalities and Widespread Destruction

Health authorities have stated that one baby has died from hypothermia and at least 11 other people have been killed in building collapses due to the harsh conditions.

Additional accounts put a greater death toll. Authorities said that numerous homes had collapsed completely and scores had been partly destroyed.

  • Almost 55,000 families impacted by rains.
  • More than 40 emergency shelters submerged.
  • Countless residents compelled to move once more.

Aid Operations Seen as Not Enough

Organizations have stepped up shipments of shelter, bedding and clothes after the halt in hostilities began, but they have said there is remains not enough aid reaching those in need.

"We are striving constantly to deliver that aid and to hand it out, but the size of the necessities is so vast that we still have many thousands of families and children who are genuinely suffering nightly," warned one spokesperson.

Future Concerns and Ceasefire Provisions

The subsequent part of the agreement involves arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the withdrawal of troops, and other provisions.

Aid organizations have stressed the need for "greater and continuous humanitarian assistance to respond to immediate and ongoing needs."

The conflict was triggered by an assault in late 2023. Later military operations have led to a high number of lives lost in the region, as per medical reports.
